🎼Spring fever! Well, if you feel the wanderlust, just grab a bike…!

So, spring is back! The sun’s rays light up the days, providing an incentive to get those legs moving. Well, if you feel the wanderlust, just grab a bike… in every town, there’s excitement to be found! Along La Flow Vélo, so much is indeed happening, with many places to stop at to enjoy cultural, sporting or musical events. There’s something for everyone.

L’Escapade sur le Fleuve Charente (Saintes) / 02 June

Get as close as possible to the Charente River, making the most of non-motorized means that respect the environment. Why not enjoy an escapade on the Charente’s waters by trying a river outing by canoe, kayak or paddleboard, travelling between Chérac and Chaniers?
Or then cycling along the little country roads between Dompierre sur Charente and Chaniers via St Sauvant is also heartily encouraged.

Whether exploring the river by bike, by boat or on foot, this event is designed to appeal to a diverse public, from sporty types, via families, to the elderly. There is an emphasis, though, on hiring out bikes, canoes and paddleboards. Note that shuttle buses are laid on to make it that bit easier for more people to try out a river trip or a bike trip. So, for example, finishing a ride at Chaniers, participants can leave their hired bike there and return by bus to their start point.

Musiques Métisses (Angoulême) / 6-8 June

Going for over 40 years, this musical event has established a strong reputation. In fact, the Festival Musiques Métisses features artists known on the world stage, as well as presenting other well-established figures and newcomers, and putting to the fore new talent from around the globe. Across three days of shows, the whole world seems to descend on Angoulême to celebrate and mingle. From afrobeat to hip hop, from reggae to jazz, not forgetting displays of deep-rooted musical traditions, Musiques Métisses creates an eclectic, intergenerational, supportive and eco-friendly atmosphere. There are concerts, author events, youth shows, film projections, street art demonstrations, exhibitions and other events, so many ingredients for experiencing a unique world taking you beyond borders.

In 2025, the concerts will take place between Thursday and Saturday evening.
